Windows Live Writer and BlogCFC
Well, I have been playing around with external blog editors today, mainly because I am bored. I don't mind using the built-in editor, I just enjoy the extra flexibility an external editor provides. I would have to say Windows Live Writer was very easy to install. One of the things I like about it is how well it integrates with BlogCFC. I have heard a few negative things about Writer with errors and registry hacks to make it work correctly, but so far I have been extremely lucky.
Earlier this evening I was playing around with Google Documents using their publish to blog feature. The are a few problems with it that I can see. First, it works fine if you primary use Google Documents, but what if you have posts you want to edit that are already on your blog, but not in Documents? Second, it is supposed to be possible to set tags for your posts, but I have not figured out how to do it. I googled around for the answer a bit, but perhaps I did not dig deep enough. Windows Live Writer addresses these two problems and more.
I am not saying Documents is a bad tool. I will continue to use both programs but for actually working on the blog, so far Writer has really impressed me.
