ColdFusionBloggers.org mobile feed

Going mobile seems to be my theme for this week. I know Ray has added a page for iPhone users to view the feed, but when I try to view the page from my Treo's 240x240 screen I have to shrink my browser's text to smallest just to have it remotely readable, otherwise the text is HUGE.

Hopefully this will not be as big an issue once SkyFire Beta 2 is available for download, but that may be a long time in coming. In the interim, I have designed a mobile page for the feed if you are in the same boat as myself. You can find the page here, at the moment: http://amary.kisdigital.com/3/. It will be moved once everything is finalized.

The page cache's for five minutes because I did not want to hammer CFBloggers needlessly. If you want to check it out please feel free. I also welcome any comments or suggestions.

Shane Zehnder's Gravatar Actually I did run across that post when I originally went off on a tangent and started all of this. The downside as I see it is, I like to be able to control what content gets delivered to the client. It seems the google mobile parser leaves things in that do not necessarily need to be there.

Also the faact that you have to set it up. Not that I think what I have is all that great. Currently it only detects a handful of browsers so unless you call the mobile page directly it may or may not correctly identify the browser as being mobile.

I may still play around with it though so I do appreciate the suggestion. Thanks Mike!

Mike's Gravatar I was thinking instead of a cflocation to google mobile, I could use a cfhttp then parse the cfhttp.filecontent. Still a hack but you might be able to better control the content. Plus a cfhttp would keep the url as your page.
