Water, a Rather Large Boat and Cool People. How Could You Go Wrong?

Well, for almost as long as I can remember I have been complaining about never taking a vacation.  I either never have the time or the money, or some strange mixture of the two.  Well, that is all about to change.

As you may or may not have heard, my friend Joshua is organizing the RIAdventure cruise.  Five days of fun, sun and all the geeks you could pack on a cruise ship.  It will be all the fun of a major conference, minus all the conferences but it does sound like a great time to mingle with all your fellow ColdFusion addicts.

I plan on being there and I hope to see you there as well.  To find out more, check out http://www.riadventure.com

Off-Topic but Interesting

Well, generally I believe I am the only CF developer in South Mississippi, but it would seem I have a visitor: http://www.vintagecoding.com/blog/2008/07/01/the-gulf-coast-is-better-sort-of/

Hope you enjoy your visit!

Are You Horde? Are You on Cairne? Are You Looking for a Guild?

Okay, I am just a little off-topic this morning.  I enjoy running around the Cairne server killing things when I have a little extra spare time.  I also enjoy the camaraderie of being in a guild, but for the most part I can do without all the childish infighting and arguing that seems to go along with it.  To that end, I decided to make a guild for like-minded individuals.  If I could get folks from the great ColdFusion community, that would be even better.

So, if you aren't one of those tree-hugging Alliance and this sounds interesting to you, just let me know here or send a whisper to Blutog on Cairne and I will send you a guild invite.  It would be great to hang out with some of the great folks in the ColdFusion community.

Testing ScribeFire

This is just a test. Nothing to see here. Move along!

Also, if you are reading this, it would appear my modified XMLRPC files work correctly using ScribeFire and FF3.

I'm not dead yet

Bring out your dead!I have had several people drop me a line in e-mail lately just checking to make sure I have not dropped off the face of the earth.  I am still alive and as soon as I shake off this bout of the flu I have, I expect to be quite well as well.

Priorities have changed at work.  I am spending more time working with IT infrastructure and helping out around the office where I can.  If all goes well, sometime in the near future I will have more time to devote to development since that is what I really love doing.

I still have my last round of updates for WhosOnCFC laying around here that has the CF8-based front end and I really have not had a chance to get it "polished up."  As soon as I get a little bit of free time and a temperature that is reasonably close to 98.6 degrees, I will try to get that wrapped up.

I would also like to thank the folks who took time out of their busy schedule to check up on me.  I appreciate the thought.

My CF8 WACK books are finally here!

Well, it is a little off-topic but my birthday present to myself has finally arrived.  Actually, I felt kind of good about it because not only did I get myself a present, I ordered my books from Ray's Amazon Affiliate link so I gave a little back to someone who gives much to our community.  If I did not have rug rats to worry about I would visit his Wish List every now and then.

I survived another year!

I would like to say I woke up this morning another year older and another year wiser.  Realistically, as anyone who knows me well will tell you, I am probably just another year older.

There is always next year!

Family Guy: Blue Harvest

I am probably a little behind in the times here, but I finally had the chance to go pick up this DVD yesterday. You know, the kids wanted to see it. ;)

Chris plays the young Luke Skywalker, Peter the swashbuckling Han Solo, Lois is Princess Leia while Stewie plays the part of Darth Vader. Meg makes a cameo as the monster in the trash compactor. Quagmire and Cleaveland have the roles of C-3PO and R2-D2 and Herbert plays Obi Wan Kenobi.

If you are a Family Guy or a Star Wars fan (or both!) this is definitely worth checking out. It condenses Episode 4 into a 45 minute run time, but I was laughing all the way through it.
